📌 Pinocchio on a CV – myth or job-winning strategy? 📄🤥

Could a little bit of Pinocchio help with the job search, or do employers value authenticity the most?

That was precisely one of the topics we discussed at the „How to Write a Good CV” webinar, held as part of the „Students for Students” series organised by the Medical College of Health Sciences.

During the webinar, we touched upon:

📌 most common CV mistakes
5 ways to highlight your strengths and competencies
Employer expectations when first reviewing an application
📌 presenting one's own experience, even when it is not extensive
📌 Potential uses of AI tools in creating a quality CV

As a former participant, it was a particular pleasure for me to share my own experiences and practical advice with everyone who is currently looking for new career challenges or wishes to improve their professional performance. 😊

Thank you to all participants for your active involvement, questions, and exchange of experiences. I am delighted that together we confirmed that a good CV is much more than a list of jobs – it is the first step towards new opportunities. 🚀

💙 Thank you to Zdravstveno učilište Medical for the invitation and the trust placed in us, and especially to Valentina Jakopec for the organisation and the opportunity to be a part of this valuable webinar series.

See you at one of the next online meetups! 😊

Love🎉 Today we're celebrating the 6th birthday of True Colors! 🎉

Six years ago, at a time when the world stood still and tourism was seeking new paths, True Colors was born.

Many saw uncertainty then. I decided to see opportunity.

From our first steps during the pandemic, through numerous projects, educational programmes, leadership roles, partnerships, study trips and the creation of new tourist experiences, right up to today's True Colors – six years of work, learning, challenges, laughter and the wonderful people we have met along the way lie behind us.

Thank you to every guest, partner, colleague, student, friend and associate who has been a part of this story.

Special thanks to everyone who believed in True Colors, even when it was at its toughest.

Today we celebrate our first six years, and tomorrow we continue to create new stories, connect people, destinations, and ideas – in all their colours.

Here's to all that has been, and all that is yet to come.

Happy 6th birthday to us! 🎂✨

Field Trip – 9th Symposium on Thermal Waters “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”

Students of the Hotel Management College at Međimurje University of Applied Sciences in Čakovec participated in the 9th Thermal Water Symposium in Varaždinske Toplice.

Through expert lectures, they learned about the importance of thermal waters, health tourism, and their connection to hotel business.

The visit was given special value by the exploration of the Aquae Iasae site, which attests to a long tradition of using thermal springs.

It was a privilege to lead this field trip and bring to students the importance of connecting cultural heritage, health tourism, and hotel management. The field trip was held as part of the Hotel Management course at the Međimurje University of Applied Sciences in Čakovec. 😊

🙏 Lana Husnjak Thanks from the heart for the invitation

Field trip – Greencajt Festival Zagreb

Students from the Hotel Management college at the Međimurje Polytechnic in Čakovec participated in a field trip as part of the Greencajt Festival.

Through interesting lectures and panel discussions, they learned about contemporary trends in sustainable and regenerative tourism, as well as the importance of creating added value for the local community.

Field trips have enabled the connection of theoretical knowledge with examples from tourism and hotel practice.

It was a privilege to lead this field trip and, along with the students, observe the current trends shaping the future of tourism. The field trip was held as part of the Hotel Management course at the Međimurje University of Applied Sciences in Čakovec.

📚 MEV - Međimurje University of Applied Sciences in Čakovec Colours of knowledge in the field

As part of the Hotel Management course, students from the Međimurje University of Applied Sciences participated in a field trip as part of the Summer by the Muru event. ☀️🌿

Hotel management today goes far beyond managing a hotel property. It encompasses understanding the destination, creating the guest experience, connecting local offerings, events, and attractions that together create the overall tourism experience.

Through fieldwork, students had the opportunity to observe the importance of event management, destination collaboration, content organisation, visitor experience management, and the role of local authenticity in shaping the tourism product.

Manifestations like Summer by the Mur are a good example of how events can contribute to the attractiveness of a destination, extend guest stays, and create added value for the tourism and hospitality sectors – themes that are an integral part of modern hotel management.

Because a successful hotel today is not an isolated system – it's part of a wider destination story. And it is precisely an understanding of these connections that students develop through a blend of theory and practice. ✨

🎓🍷 Colours of knowledge on the field 🍷🎓

As part of the field trip for the Hotel Management course at MEV - Međimurje University of Applied Sciences in Čakovec We participated in the opening of the jubilee, 25th edition of Urbanovo 2026 – an event that has, over the years, become an example of how to develop high-quality eno-gastronomic and destination tourism. 🍇✨

For students of Hotel Management, field trips like these hold particular value because it is at events such as Urbanovo that they can see how interconnected hospitality, gastronomy, event organisation, destination management, and the guest experience truly are.

Hotel management is not just about managing accommodation.
That's the understanding:
Guest experiences
Quality of service
The importance of local products and wines
Stakeholder cooperation in destinations
✔️ organising events that enhance the value of the entire region

For 25 years, Međimurje, through Urbanovo, has been demonstrating how authenticity, community, and quality can become a strong tourist product and an example of good practice for future generations in tourism. 🌿

A big thank you to the organisers, partners and exhibitors for their hospitality and the opportunity for students to connect knowledge with real-life examples from practice. 🤗

You're on a bus listening to education. 🚍🎧
Modern time management. 😄

As the miles passed towards new business meetings, learning simultaneously about what constitutes the foundations of quality and responsible tourism agency operations also took place.

As part of the UHPA eduTOUR 2.0 project, I attended an online workshop:
„Operational, legal, tax, and accounting aspects of the most important services of travel agencies.”.

Tourism is a wonderful business, but also a business of great responsibility, knowledge, and constant self-improvement.
We learn to be better.
We learn to be more successful.
And most importantly – we learn so that one day we can pass that knowledge on to others. 🤍

Thank you to UHPA and speaker Željko Trezner for the valuable training and practical examples.

Lecture

Today I had the opportunity to be part of an important educational workshop on the position of people with disabilities and how to interact with them.

I carry one key thought with me:
Empathy and pity are not the same.

Empathy means understanding, being present, seeing the person.
Pity... often unconsciously creates distance.

A few months ago Marina Radošić she gave me a simple, yet powerful lesson:

— if you don't know how to approach, how to help, or how to be supportive — ask.

And you will get an answer.

Why?
Because that's not weakness.
This is part of our human “DNA code.” 🤍

Communication. Respect. Appreciation.
Simple things that make a huge difference.

Thank you very much to the Public Institution for the Development of Međimurje County REDEA for organising the workshop and creating a space for learning, understanding, and concrete steps towards a more inclusive society.

Thank you to everyone working to make society more accessible – not just physically, but humanly.
